In order to offer a positive experience to our clients, VoiceBunny’s algorithm and the quality control team reviews all of the samples that come through our site to ensure they meet our quality requirements. Samples are meant to show your skills as a voice actor. Our clients will have a better idea of what to expect if they decide to book you in terms of performance and audio quality.
For a sample to be effective, it must comply with the following guidelines:
- A sample must be between 15 and 30 seconds long. It must be long enough to provide a clear idea of the voice and audio quality. Make sure the performance is natural and conversational, avoid sounding flat and robotic.
- A sample must convey a complete idea; a sentence that is repeated multiple times is not a good example of your abilities as a voice actor. Procure making samples that are well-rounded and don't seem to be cut out from a larger audio recording.
- A sample must include only one voice: yours! Samples that have more than one different voice can be confusing and misleading for clients.
How should I choose the attributes for my samples?
Your sample should be labeled with the right attributes. Be careful when choosing the age, gender, language, and accent to ensure they’re all appropriate. You can choose only one purpose per sample:
Movie trailer: Commercial advertisement for a feature film.
Phone systems: Recording for a telephone system or IVR.
Product videos: Recording for a video that explains how a product works.
Presentations / Educational: Recording that has an educational objective -i.e. sharing an idea TED style-,
Commercials / Advertising: Commercial advertisement for a brand or service.
Characters / Videogames: Character voices or narrations for videogames or animation.
Live announcements: Recording used at live events or to promote them.
Audiobooks / Podcasts: Voice used for an audiobook and/or podcasts.
Radio / TV tags: Commercial advertisement for radio or TV.
If a sample fails any of the conditions explained above, it may be rejected by our team so make sure you double check the sample before uploading
Can I upload a sample more than once?
No. Each sample should be uploaded only one and to the purpose that matches the most. While some purposes are similar, and a sample could fit under more than one, you should choose only one. Keep in mind your chances of being booked improve the more versatile your profile is.
How many samples can I have in my profile?
At VoiceBunny you can upload as many samples as you want. However, we believe it’s all about quality and not quantity. We have found that our clients prefer Pros with fewer samples that showcase their work more efficiently. We recommend having a maximum of 50 samples to build a strong profile with great visibility amongst our pool of voice actors.
How often should I update my samples?
It depends. You can modify your samples at any time, so you can choose when and how you update your profile. We recommend you to keep the samples in your profile as up-to-date as you can to ensure you’re displaying only your best, most recent work.
What will happen if my samples are rejected?
We will send you an email with the reasons behind the rejection so you can make any adjustments you consider necessary. Keep in mind, that if more than 50% of your samples are rejected, our system will automatically deactivate your profile. Therefore, it’s important to remove every rejected sample you receive and to adjust your quality to match our standards. This way, you will have all your samples up and running all the time.
